Birds in the Otter Valley

The Otter valley is inside an area of local natural beauty.  We have a variety of native bird-life, as well as exciting migratory species that visit at different times of the year.  Below you will find pictures taken of different birds within the Otter valley.  You can also track observations using the App iNaturalist ( here ).  

 

The Raptors of the Otter Valley

Birds near Water 

One exciting group of birds is that of Raptors that are frequently seen across the valley.  Have you ever seen a Barn Owl with its prey, or a Buzzard fighting off a carrion crow?  How about a juvenile Peregrine Falcon catching its own prey or a Sparrowhawk looking for it's next meal? When you walk around the countryside - nears rivers, on hte estuary or by the sea - keep an eye out for birds nearby.
