‘St Boniface Way’ – Stage One – about 6 miles.

The St Boniface Way is a new Pilgrimage Route running from Crediton Parish Church to Exeter Cathedral, taking in various villages and their interesting churches en-route.  We will walk along the Creedy and Exe at times, and through woods and meadows full of wild flowers. This part of mid-Devon is very quiet and peaceful.
We finish by walking through the Exeter Valley Parks and then the beautiful campus of the University, before the shock of entering city itself.
To make it easy to do the walk using public transport (there are frequent buses between Exeter and Crediton which stop at Newton St Cyres), we have split it into two sections:
You do not, of course, have to do both sections!
To make it easy to do the walk using public transport (there are frequent buses between Exeter and Crediton which stop at Newton St Cyres) the walk will be split into 2 sections.
Meet: 9.30am at the car park near the village hall, off W Town Road, in Newton St Cyres (OS115 SX880 979).
We will then take the 9.45 bus to Crediton. This is the number 5A bus which leaves Exeter Bus Station at 9.25 if you wish to catch it there.
“St Boniface Way Stage One” : Stage One takes us from the Church of the Holy Cross in Crediton via Shobrooke Park to Shobrooke, with its ancient church and a holy well, before heading to the church at Newton St Cyres. From here it is a couple of minutes walk to your car, or a quick bus ride to Exeter if you have come by public transport.
Bring a flask for our coffee break and, maybe, a packed lunch, which you could eat in the refreshment area in the church or the adjoining Arboretum in Newton St Cyres.
Sadly the Beer Engine pub isn’t open on Wednesday lunchtimes, but you could try Belluno (https://www.belluno-newton.co.uk ).
Once we leave Crediton the route is through lovely peaceful countryside and is fairly easy going with just a couple of not very steep hills.
Please book with walk leaders Penny and Paul Kurowski – 01395 742942, 07792619748 or [email protected]
There is no limit on numbers, we just like to know who is coming when there is a bit of travelling involved.
