A Blue Plaque commemorating Robert Warrington was unveiled on Sunday, 16 March 2025 at Poplar Cottage, Fore Street Hill, Budleigh Salterton.  Pictured below on the right in front of Poplar Cottage is Prof Gill Reid, past president of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and left, Shelia Salmon, the great, great granddaughter of Robert Warrington.  Both ladies gave short addresses following the unveiling.

Robert Warrington, 1838-1867, founded the Chemical Society of London, the forerunner of the Royal Society of Chemistry and discovered the aquarium principle.
